Immigration Committee
The Immigration subcommittee of the Peace, Justice, and Reconciliation Commission raises awareness
in our St. Ignatius parish community about factors that contribute to migration, discuss issues affecting immigrants in the US, and highlight ways in which the community can welcome and support migrants and refugees.
The Safe Communities Act would end police and court involvement in deportations, protect basic rights for non-citizens, and create uniform guidelines for police interactions with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
This document clarifies the aims and goals of the Safe Communities Act with clear language about what the act accomplishes.
